When it comes to close partnerships the one between Bayern Munich and adidas is perhaps the strongest in the world but Nike was recently splashed in the spotlight when recent signings Mario Goetze and Jan Kirchhoff showed up wearing the swoosh.
The young German superstar showed up wearing a simple but bold Nike t-shirt with NIKE in grey and a red swoosh across the center. The t-shirt was bolder than the new number 19 Bayern Munich soccer jersey he was presented.
The pictures from today's press conference with Mario Goetze have negatively surprised us, said adidas in a tersely written statement about what the German press has dubbed Nike-Gate.
Goetze is not the only player not getting the message. At the same press conference Kirchhoff, who signed with Bayern from Mainz, was wearing a Go Like Hell Nike t-shirt. The t-shirt was not as bold or bad as the one Goetze was wearing as the Nike name was easily covered up by the sleeve of the adidas Bayern Munich jersey.
Mario Gomez, who made a summer move to Fiorentina in Serie A, has been seen wearing Nike gear at training sessions. The players were fined with the money going to help recent flood victims in Germany.

Bayern Munich players are required to wear adidas gear, except for shoes, at all official Bayern Munich events. Bayern and adidas are in the second year of an eight-year deal worth $289 million, according to German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung.
